I started SangraLina as a way to bring people together. Whenever I hosted family dinners for my extended family, I always made a sangria. What was in it was always a surprise which made the wine the talking point as people came in and gathered around the counter. It was the first thing they did after coming into the house which always lightened the mood and made it more relaxing of a gathering.
As it became more of a hit with my family, I started bringing it to the neighborhood block parties in bigger batches and with the same concept of white sangria and red sangria. Ahhh but again, what was in each was the secret sauce! It mattered on my mood, what I had for produce and juices in the house, who was at the events, and of course...what other fun alcohol I add to the wine.
My husband runs the oldest outdoor produce market in the United States so I always have a great abundance of fruit in the house. This made for a fun selection of ingredients to be added and soaked into the wine. Have you tried a mango in your white sangria? Or a peach? It's an amazing taste and so refreshing. I experiment and come up with a different taste each time.
As a way to raise money to pay for college, I worked as a bartender at Legal Seafoods. This taught me the gift of talking to people and putting a drink in front of them while chatting. Again, a more relaxed environment. Bartending also taught me to experiment with the mixes. This is where the fun is as each bottle comes out with a slightly different taste then the last bottle. I can honestly say that no two bottles are ever the same. I love the change and the discovery it brings. Drinking my SangraLina is an experience!
I bring my sangria to events as gifts with my label on them and they are a hit. My friends and neighbors love the label effect on the wine bottle. It's such a little touch that makes the gift more elaborate. These are my gifts of love.
